Right now, here’s the rub.
I think that either Turkey (“Love Me Back”) or FYR Macedonia (“Crno i Belo”) deserve to win. But, I’ve learned over the years that it’s seldom the best song or best performance that does win.
Back to the countdown and my top 5 predictions.
Number 5 – “Euphoria” from Sweden
The bookies’ favourite. Enya meets Techno. Not impressed but put it in my Top 10 just in case
Number 4 – “Crno i Belo” from FYR Macedonia
Great voice, possible winner, but could confuse the audience because it’s a song of two halves, going from ballad to driving rock. I think I was suffering from info overload by the time I listened to this – I swear the lead in line to the chorus is “had no lager”
Number 3 – “Love Me Back” from Turkey
I was really tempted to make this my number one. Really perky and fun number with the best choreography in the show.
And now, a bit of a cop out – I’m putting two songs at equal number one.
Number 1 = – “Party For Everybody” from Russia
Eurovision pap written on autopilot, but those 6 cute grannies are going to get a lot of votes. Not saying I think it should win, just that it might win. I bet Simon Cowell has already signed them up!
Number 1 = – “Love Will Set You Free” from the UK
International superstar singing a pleasant ballad. Given UK’s Eurovision track record it means he’ll either come last or win the bloody thing.
Enjoy the show. If you fancy having a little Eurovision beerfest at home you run a little competition using the BBC’s Eurovision Scorecard
